Once upon a time this storied sativa landrace was an import only. Today, these seeds, their clones and several of their offspring have fallen into the
hands of American and European breeders, causing the name to spread much further than the plant it was originally used to describe. This isn’t to say
that the modern versions are bad, the Acapulco gold sold at Barney’s farm is excellent, only that they are engineered cross breeds, Frankensteins
compared to the potent purity of the old stuff.

History
Acapulco Gold made an incredibly official entrance into our collective consciousness in the 1965 edition of the Oxford English Dictionary. The book purportedly describes, “a special grade of pot growing only in the vicinity of Acapulco… [that] has a potency surpassed by few of the green varieties and usually comes at slightly higher prices or in short weights.” (^could be BS, taken from wiki.) From there this mexican wonder drug exploded in western pop culture, inspiring the likes of David Crosby, John Lennon. The band Rush, Robert Plant, and more recently MF Doom and Devin the Dude. It has also earned mention on SNL in 1975, and has been used as the title of Edwin Corley’s book imagining corporate america’s preparation for legal marijuana.

I’m a disabled veteran and I couldn’t even begin to describe the medicinal benefits of this strain! This is everything the va doctors tried to do with 15 different pills in a beautifully presented sweet almost coffee like aroma! This helps me make it through the day. It balances my mood swings and creates that social lubricant we all on occasion need. Without the effects of alcohol, from which I have been sober of for 3 years. My mind is occupied and focused really minimizes those distracting thoughts that veterans sometimes get. My PTSD is manageable with this and if I could offer one piece of advice to anyone that knows a veteran please share this with them. This strain saved my life.

What do you really need to say about this potent purebred! It’s THC content is generally through the roof (24%), the buds are thick, sticky and hairy, you get a nice solid stone that lasts longer than most and won’t leave you on the couch. For me it’s medicinal values are fantastic, arthritis pain and stress vanished quickly. Get this one when you see it because it’s not around long and it’s not around often! KEEP THE PUREBREDS ALIVE!!

Really enjoyed this strain. It smells and tastes amazing first off. My husband described it as chamomile tea with honey and it reminded me of candy or fruit snacks. Either way it came off sweet, and I think honey actually captures it best. Effects started pretty quick after I vaporized. My mind got pretty crisp and focused and I started getting chatty. I felt like my brain was speeding up but I had no problem keeping up. I could see this being a great daytime choice. I felt a lot of energy and wanted to dance. Sex was enhanced like it always is for me (I always have the heightened arousal effect) then afterwards my husband and I sat down to watch Pineapple Express and enjoyed it thoroughly. Sometimes when I’m high I misunderstand the actors emotions or facial expressions cause I get too overly focused on things, but with this I was able to follow everything perfectly but had great bouts of giggling randomly throughout the movie (doesn’t hurt that it’s a perfect movie to watch while high of course). By the end of the night I felt ready for bed and fell asleep feeling really great. A perfect cycle I think. Plenty of energy earlier in the night and a very subtle and smooth ride back down which prepares you for a perfect night of sleep. It’ll take a few more tries to cement this as a top strain for me, but if it’s consistent I’d put it as one of my favorites.

Luckily, you’ve also converted to being solar-powered rather than be wasteful using less efficient resources which go through a long process of making, consuming, transferring it into energy, then letting out waste which is all compiled in a hill somewhere. And that hill is getting too full. So now you walk around your day, powered by the sun, feeling it glow inside you. You’re focused and feeling better than ever, almost like… gold.

This ain’t your grandpa’s Acapulco Gold…It’s better! Cannabis has come a long way up from the good old 1960s-1970s. Thank you growers and breeders! Anyway, today’s Acapulco Gold is a strain that Sativa lovers will enjoy…. Upbeat, energizing, clear headed… One of those strains that make everything seem funny. Gives your brain a vacation. I’d buy this again.
